SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS 1 WEEK 1 (2020-2021)

Dear students,

Your summer holidays have officially started.

Time to unwind, relax and engage in some creative and fun learning activities.

I have created a list of very interesting holiday assignments for you.

For this week, I want you to recap the short story we had done before the summer break.

"THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR"

Let's watch the story and read it aloud once again, before you do the activity.

I hope you paid attention to the days of the week, and the fruits that the hungry caterpillar ate every day.

TASK FOR THE WEEK :

Refer to the images below, and make a caterpillar booklet.

Each circle will have the DAY of the week, and inside that circle, you will draw, colour and label the fruit eaten by the caterpillar.

This summer holiday activity will be a great way for you to learn the days of the week and their spellings.

You can share the images of your activities on my official email id - minikandhari@stcolumbas.edu.in

Also please keep your holiday homework safely in a folder, you will be asked to bring these to school once the summer break is over.

SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS 1 WEEK 2 (2020-2021)

Dear students,

I hope you are enjoying your summer holidays and are having fun with the activities that have been assigned to you.

This week, we will READ ALONG and listen attentively, to 2 short stories.

It is important to keep reading during the holidays so you're able to maintain your reading habits and learn new words.

For this week,  I have selected 2 short stories :

"GIRAFFE PROBLEMS" and "THE BEAR ATE YOUR SANDWICH"

I hope you all have fun watching and listening to the stories.

They are being narrated by the former PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES - Barack Obama and his wife Michelle ObamaClick on the link to watch and have fun!!

SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS 1 WEEK 3 (2020-2021)

Dear students,

I hope your summer holiday has been going well so far.

For this week, I have yet another fun and interesting activity.

REFER TO THE IMAGE BELOW :

1. Make a cut out of the BLUE KITE, with a YELLOW TAIL. Decorate the kite the way YOU LIKE IT.

2. Once you are ready with your KITE, try to create a very short story based on the image above "THE LITTLE BLUE KITE", in 4-5 lines using your own creativity and imagination.

Share this story with your parents.
You can even write it in your rough notebook.

Feel free to share images of your kite and the story you have written on my official email id.

SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS 1 WEEK 4 (2020-2021)

Dear Students,

This week, I am going to be giving you a short reading passage.

This is the first time I am giving you a READ ALOUD without narration or any audio.

You can read the story as many times as you like to familiarise yourself with the difficult words and spellings.

The main aim of giving a reading passage is that you are able to learn how to read a paragraph quickly and fluently.

REFER TO THE IMAGE BELOW:

After reading this passage, attempt the 2 questions given below :

Feel free to share images of your kite and the story you have written on my official email id.

SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS 1 WEEK 5 (2020-2021)

Dear students,

For your last assignment for the summer holiday.

Let's make a BOOKMARK.

You must be wondering, what is a bookmark??

A bookmark is a marker, made from paper, chart paper, cardboard, fabric or leather. This "marker" helps a reader mark the page where they pause reading their book for the day. Placing this bookmark on that page, helps them easily return to it when they wish to continue reading it.

Refer to the images below for an example of what a bookmark looks like and how it is used :

Following are images of some of the bookmarks students from class 2 have made, you can use these as an inspiration as well.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS WEEK IS:

To make a BEAUTIFUL BOOKMARK. The bookmark should be made from a thick paper, so that it is sturdy and durable because you will continue to use this bookmark in your Library class once the schools reopen.

The bookmark can have any drawing that you wish to make. You could draw birds, flowers, candies, butterflies, anything that you like!!!

I also understand that at this moment, a lot of the students might not have chart paper or other arts and craft supplies available at home. If that is the case, it is not an issue at all. This bookmark can be made as and when the markets reopen and your parents are able to source the materials for you.

Feel free to share images of your work on my official email id.
